Standards Correlations
Many SEPUP curricular materials have been correlated to the
National Science Education Standards (NSES) and to the standards
set forth
by some states.
Each SEPUP curriculum addresses many, but not all, of these
standards. Other instructional materials, including those
developed by SEPUP,
may be used to help address these standards in their entirety.
Because of the spiralling nature of concept development in
SEPUP materials, a specific activity may not address all aspects
of
a standard. However,
all of the activities correlated to a particular standard
work together to develop student understanding and mastery
of the
identified content.
While the correlations focus on content standards, SEPUP materials
also help address standards related to teaching, professional
development, and assessment.
For your information, the NSES Science Content Standards
are divided into three levels: K–4, 5–8, and
9–12. In additonal, NSE
content areas have been divided into several categories:
A: Science as inquiry
B: Physical science
C: Life science
D: Earth and space science
E: Science and technology
F: Science in personal
and social perspectives
G: History and nature of science
